We Marched for Education !

A big thank you to those NUT members who took strike action yesterday, and marched to demonstrate our opposition to the Government's policies on education.

Teachers do not take strike action lightly, but the ongoing assault on our pay structure, pensions and a workload regime which, on the government's own figures suggests that a 60-hour week is average for a primary teacher, members felt they had no other option.  Michael Gove may send his civil servants to talks, but, as we can see, he has no intention of tackling our concerns seriously

I was proud to march alongside Eastbourne teachers, and then speak at the Eastbourne rally, alongside NQT Jake Lambert, parent Tanya Stanley, primary teacher Siobhan Brennan and the president of East Sussex NUT- Steve Somerville.

Many other East Sussex members rallied and marched in Brighton and Hastings, to show the public our determination to stand up for education !
